About us

This website is operated by Apex Waste Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 17025745, with registered office at 37 Bull Street, Holt, England, NR25 6HP. Lawton Skip Hire is a trading name of Apex Waste Ltd ("Lawton Skip Hire", "we", "us", "our").

By using this website and booking a skip through it you agree to these terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or place a booking.

Nature of this service

Lawton Skip Hire operates an online booking platform that arranges skip hire bookings with independent third-party suppliers. We do not ourselves carry waste, deliver skips, or operate skip hire vehicles. We provide the website, take the booking, collect payment on behalf of the supplier, and support customers through the booking process.

The contract for the supply of the skip itself, including delivery, collection and disposal, is between you and the supplier identified in your booking confirmation, not between you and Apex Waste Ltd. The supplier is an Environment Agency registered waste carrier. Apex Waste Ltdacts as a commercial agent for the supplier solely for the purposes of accepting your booking and collecting the price on the supplier's behalf.

By booking through this website you accept this booking-platform model.

Online bookings and when a contract is formed

Prices and delivery dates shown for your postcode are firm offers from the supplier covering your area, not indicative figures. A contract for the supply of the skip is formed between you and the supplier at the moment your payment is successfully captured and you receive the on-screen confirmation. We send a confirmation email with your booking reference and the supplier's details.

The price you confirm at checkout is the price you pay. It includes VAT, delivery, collection and disposal of the waste. The booking does not include any council road permit. At this stage we only accept bookings for skips placed on private land (your own driveway, yard or property). See Site placement below.

Payment

Payment is processed at the point of booking by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd using their secure payment fields embedded in the booking flow. Card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not see or store your card data.

The supplier identified in your booking confirmation is the merchant of record for the transaction. Payment is charged through Stripe directly to the supplier's Stripe account. Apex Waste Ltd is not the merchant for your booking and does not receive the booking price into our own accounts. Apex Waste Ltd receives a platform fee from the supplier for operating the booking platform, deducted by Stripe from the transaction at the point of settlement.

By submitting payment you authorise Stripe, on the supplier's behalf, to charge the card you have entered for the booking total shown on screen. The descriptor that appears on your card or bank statement will reference the supplier or the booking platform. If the payment fails, the booking is not confirmed and no contract is formed.

Delivery and collection

The supplier will deliver the skip on the date you choose at checkout. Delivery is typically made during normal working hours on the chosen day. A specific time slot is not guaranteed. We will email you a delivery confirmation on the day. If the supplier is unable to deliver on the chosen day we will contact you to arrange the next available slot or, if that is not acceptable, arrange a refund of the booking price.

Standard hire period is included in the booking. The supplier will collect the skip at the end of the hire period. If the skip is not accessible at the time of collection (for example, blocked in by a parked vehicle), the supplier may charge a return-trip fee, which will be confirmed to you in advance of any second collection attempt.

Your responsibilities

By placing a booking you confirm that:

  • You are 18 or over and authorised to enter into this contract for the property at the delivery address
  • You have the legal right to place a skip at the delivery address (you own the land or have the property owner's permission)
  • The delivery address is accurate and the access route is suitable for a delivery vehicle to reach the drop point
  • You will not overfill the skip; nothing should sit above the rim. The driver may refuse collection of an overfilled skip
  • You will not exceed the skip's weight limit (skip dimensions and weight limits for each size are shown on the relevant size landing page on this site)
  • You will not place any prohibited items in the skip (see Prohibited items below)

Prohibited items

For health, safety and legal reasons the following items cannot be placed in any skip booked through this site:

  • Asbestos
  • Hazardous waste, chemicals, paint, solvents, oils, fuels
  • Tyres
  • Fridges, freezers, air-conditioning units (anything containing refrigerant gases)
  • Mattresses (separate arrangements apply if accepted)
  • Plasterboard and gypsum (separate disposal applies)
  • Electrical items / WEEE (TVs, monitors, white goods)
  • Batteries
  • Clinical, medical or biological waste
  • Gas canisters

If prohibited items are placed in the skip the supplier may charge for separate disposal of those items and any contaminated load, at the rate the licensed disposal site charges. We will pass any such charge through to you and contact you in advance.

Site placement

At this stage of the service we only take bookings for skips placed on private land, meaning your own driveway, yard, garden or other private property. We do not currently take online bookings for skips that need to be placed on a public road or highway, which would require a council road permit.

If your address does not have private space for a skip and you need a road placement, do not book through this site. We will add online road-permit bookings in future; that change will be reflected here when it goes live.

Weight limits and excess charges

Each skip size has a maximum weight limit shown on the relevant size landing page on this site. The limit reflects the safe load the supplier's vehicle can transport on the highway.

If the loaded skip exceeds the weight limit, an excess-weight charge may apply at the rate the supplier charges. We will contact you before any excess charge is taken. Heavy materials such as soil, rubble, concrete and brick reach the weight limit well before the skip is visibly full. If you expect a heavy load, size up.

Changes and cancellations

All booking changes and cancellations are handled offline through the contact details in your booking confirmation email. We do not currently offer a self-service portal for managing bookings after they are confirmed. We coordinate change and cancellation requests with the supplier on your behalf.

You may cancel a confirmed booking up to 24 hoursbefore the delivery date for a full refund. After that point we cannot guarantee a refund as the supplier may have already committed the skip and the slot. Refunds are processed back through Stripe to the card used to pay, from the supplier's Stripe account.

To cancel, request a date change, or query a booking, email bookings@lawtonskiphire.co.uk with your booking reference. We will reply within one working day.

Consumer cooling-off rights

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cancellation period for distance contracts. By booking a delivery date that falls within this 14-day window and accepting that the service starts on that delivery date, you agree that once the skip has been delivered the cancellation right no longer applies in respect of the portion of the service already performed. You can still cancel before delivery in line with the policy above.

Liability

These terms cover the website and our role as the booking platform. The supplier is responsible for performing the supply itself (delivery, hire period, collection, disposal) under their separate contract with you. The supplier's own terms apply to that performance, including any liability for damage caused by the delivery vehicle or during placement of the skip.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law.

Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of this website or from our role in arranging a booking is limited to the price paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity.

For questions about damage to driveways, surfaces, gates or vegetation caused by the delivery vehicle or by placement of the skip, raise the matter with the supplier identified in your booking confirmation. You should agree the placement point with the driver on arrival if there is any doubt about access or suitability.

Force majeure

Neither we nor the supplier are liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by an event outside reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, industrial action, fuel shortages, pandemics, or supplier vehicle breakdowns. Where such an event affects your delivery we will contact you to arrange an alternative date or, if that is not workable, arrange a refund of the booking price.

Intellectual property

All content on this website (text, images, logos and the skip illustrations) is owned by Apex Waste Ltd or licensed to us. You may not copy, republish or commercially exploit the content without our written permission. You may use the site for the personal purpose of researching or placing a skip-hire booking.

Acceptable use of the site

You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, the booking flow or any part of our infrastructure, not to submit fraudulent or false booking information, and not to use the site in any way that is unlawful or that interferes with other users' access.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them or from a booking is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you have a complaint, please email bookings@lawtonskiphire.co.uk with your booking reference and we will work with you to resolve it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service changes or when required by law. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. The terms that apply to a particular booking are the version in force at the time you made that booking.
